Orbit conducts non-invasive studies of basic physiology at our Charlestown site. Adults may apply to the participant pool to be contacted about studies for which they may be eligible. Applying does not enroll you in a study.

Our studies examine physiological responses, including heart rate, breathing, and balance. The research team explains each study's procedures and measurements during informed consent.

How it works

How joining the pool works

The application allows the team to review preliminary eligibility and contact you about a study. Enrollment requires a separate informed-consent process.

Step 1

Apply online

Complete a short eligibility questionnaire and provide your contact information.

Step 2

We contact you

If you may be eligible, the team contacts you to review the study details and discuss scheduling.

Step 3

Informed consent

Before any study activity, the team explains the study, what happens at each visit, the risks, and how you are paid. You sign a consent form and keep a copy.

Step 4

Your first visit

The team conducts the procedures described in the consent form. Sensors on the skin record physiological measurements. You may request a break or stop at any time.

Who can join

Adults age 18 and older who can attend in-person visits in Charlestown, Massachusetts may apply.

Eligibility depends on the requirements of each study. No previous research experience or health insurance is required. The research team reviews the application before discussing study participation.

Joining the pool allows the team to text, call, or email you about future studies until you opt out. To leave the pool, reply STOP to any text or email participants@orbitclinical.com.
